Carlos Tavares is Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Stellantis. Under his leadership, Stellantis is focused on providing clean, safe and affordable mobility while rapidly transforming itself into a mobility tech company through the swift and efficient execution of Dare Forward 2030, the Company’s bold strategic plan that paves the way for Stellantis to be the industry’s first to achieve carbon net zero by 2038.
Prior to leading the creation of Stellantis in January 2021, Carlos was Chairman of the PSA Managing Board from March 2014, having joined the PSA Managing Board in January 2014.
Previously, he was Chief Operating Officer of Renault from 2011 to 2013. He also served as Executive Vice President, Chairman of the Management Committee Americas and President of Nissan North America from 2009, after joining Nissan in 2004. Carlos began his career in 1981 at Renault, where he held various positions.
Carlos currently serves as co-chair of the Freedom of Mobility Forum’s Advisory Board to foster a 360-degree and fact-based approach to preserving freedom of mobility in the context of climate change. Until December 2022, he was a member of the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) Board of Directors and served as the Association’s President in 2018 and 2019. He has also served on the boards of directors of Airbus S.E., from 2016 to 2022, and TotalEnergies, from 2017 to 2020.
Carlos is an avid race car driver with more than 500 races to his name.
Born in Portugal, Carlos is a graduate of École Centrale Paris.
