Scalable Platforms and Flexible Powertrains

Our global vehicle platforms are engineered to support a wide range of powertrain technologies and energy sources, enabling Stellantis to respond to local market needs that vary around the world. By reducing complexity, increasing component sharing, and optimizing architectures across regions, we can deploy innovation more efficiently while giving our brands the ability to create distinctive products and experiences.

STLA One

The new STLA One platform brings modularity to life. It consolidates five platforms into a single best-in-class scalable architecture, reducing complexity while expanding coverage across the B, C, and D segments. Built around common interfaces, it supports multiple powertrain technologies enabling Stellantis to meet diverse global market needs with greater efficiency and flexibility.

STLA One is also underpinned by our updated battery strategy, with two major advances:

  • the expansion of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) to improve affordability and reduce exposure to critical raw materials, and
  • the integration of cell-to-body technology, which makes the battery part of the vehicle structure.

Together, these innovations help reduce cost, weight, and complexity, while 800-volt capability enables competitive charging times and a better real-world BEV experience. As the foundation for Stellantis’ next-generation technologies including STLA Brain, STLA SmartCockpit, and steer-by-wire, STLA One is our most advanced platform generation, designed to accelerate feature deployment and enable distinctive brand experiences on a shared core.

Powertrains

Our powertrain approach follows the same logic as our platforms: broader coverage, greater flexibility and freedom of choice. We are pursuing a clear multi-energy strategy, investing in BEV and transitional technologies such as Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) and Range-Extended Electric Vehicles (REEV) to match different adoption speeds across regions.

This allows us to offer the right propulsion for different markets and use cases. Shared foundations ensure that customer flexibility goes hand in hand with capital discipline, supported by scale and efficiency.

Our powertrain options include:

  • A comprehensive lineup of ICE powertrains, led by the new Nettuno V6 and Hurricane4 engines, both featuring innovative pre-chamber combustion technology derived from Formula 1. The range also includes the new MultiJet 4.0, ideally suited for LCV applications, and the new Turbo 100, developed for affordable compact cars. Finally, the Hurricane 6 and HEMI® engine lineup supports performance vehicles and full size North American products.

  • A wide range of hybrid solutions, including both MHEV and HEV solutions, ranging from the recently introduced FireFly engine with BSG technology on the Fiat 500, to the new Hybrid 110/145 with our modular eDCT transmission, and up to the refined 1.6 HEV launched on the Jeep Cherokee.

  • Smart Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) and Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) powertrains, bridging the path to electrification, these technologies combine the benefits of electric driving with added flexibility and peace of mind. Stellantis already offers a wide range of PHEV applications in Europe and is now bringing a range-extended EV to North America’s SUV and pickup segments, a first in these categories. With up to 90% of daily driving in electric mode and vehicle-to-grid capability, REEV delivers clear customer value.

  • A full Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) portfolio, built around advanced Electric Drive Modules (EDMs) and batteries leveraging innovative architectures and technologies. Our solutions scale from cost‑efficient, entry‑level BEVs optimized for accessibility and customer value, to high‑performance electric powertrains featuring 800‑volt architectures.
