Aggressive Electrification Roadmap

The most important decarbonization lever in achieving our carbon neutrality targets is the transition to a low carbon product portfolio. Our worldwide roadmap includes a significant shift in the product and service portfolio with the rollout of a wide range of Low Emission Vehicles (LEV) from full-electric to plug-in hybrid and mild hybrid solutions.

At the end of 2024, more than 40% of passenger car models sold in Europe had a battery electric offering.

Cutting-Edge Technologies

At the heart of Stellantis’ product strategy are our multi-energy platforms which are engineered for flexibility. They are designed to meet evolving market demands, regulatory requirements, and customer needs and they are scalable, efficient, and future-ready to support over-the-air (OTA) upgrades and next-gen technologies.

We offer four BEV-native platforms: STLA Small, Medium, Large, and Frame plus dedicated platforms for Smart Cars and Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs). Each is built to deliver exceptional performance and flexibility across segments.

These platforms reduce complexity and support economies of scale with the capacity to produce up to two million units per platform annually.

Alternative renewable fuels are another key component of our strategy to reduce emissions. Ethanol is an alternative renewable fuel of biological origin used in flex-fuel vehicles (“FFV”) produced by Stellantis in South America. These vehicles run on gasoline/ethanol blends in variable proportions. We are evaluating the potential increase in the use of bio-based content, such as ethanol and hydrotreated vegetable oil (“HVO”), in order to have vehicles that are compatible with future standards in various regions.

Integrated Battery Ecosystem

Minimizing the environmental impact of battery production is core to our decarbonization efforts. By advancing battery technology, sourcing sustainable raw materials, expanding gigafactories, and promoting battery recycling, we aim to optimize the long-term energy savings and emission reductions offered by electric vehicles (EVs).

From 2024, Stellantis’s electrification strategy is based on two battery technologies to support a wider range of vehicle types and adapt to consumer needs and affordability constraints. These technologies are expected to improve energy density and, therefore, reduce the environmental footprint of the batteries. This dual chemistry strategy includes:

  • A nickel-free and cobalt-free battery, including lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, designed to achieve an energy density between 400 and 500 Wh/L at cell level
  • A nickel-based battery with a higher energy density, ranging from 600 to 700 Wh/L at cell level

Innovative Mobility Solutions

Stellantis is committed to delivering the best customer experience within two separate ecosystems: mobility services through Free2move, and, charging solutions offered by Free2move Charge.

Mobility services: Free2move is the only global mobility brand offering a complete and unique ecosystem for its private and professional customers around the world. Relying on data and technology, Free2move offers a range of services from car-sharing to short, medium, and long-term rental, as well as a subscription service or booking parking spaces and charging stations via the app.

Charging solutions: Stellantis is accelerating electric vehicle adoption by developing Free2move Charge, a complete charging ecosystem designed to make charging EVs easy and accessible anytime, anywhere. Free2move Charge is built on the e-ABC promise – easy to Always Be Charged – and integrates hardware, software, and services to eliminate barriers like range anxiety and provide a seamless experience at home, work, and on the go.

The Free2move Charge offer is structured around three key pillars:

  • Free2move Charge Home delivers advanced smart home chargers with remote control capabilities and tailored installation solutions.
  • Free2move Charge GO provides customers with seamless access in both Europe and North America. In Europe, customers have access to one of the largest public charging networks, with over 1 million charging points available across 26 countries via the app or Charging Pass (RFID card). In North America, the charging network gives access to almost 40 thousand charging points offering a best-in-class charging experience.
  • Free2move Charge Business supports fleet electrification by offering turnkey charging solutions – on-site, at-home, and on-the-go – managed through a unified interface that tracks usage, costs, and employee reimbursement.

Stellantis is also partnering with leading Charge Point Operators to expand fast charging access, including at select dealerships, throughout Europe and North America. In North America, Stellantis joined other automakers in July 2023 to launch IONNA, a joint venture focused on building a high-speed charging network for battery electric vehicles in the U.S. and Canada. In addition, in the U.S., Stellantis signed an agreement with Tesla to open access for Stellantis BEV customers to the Tesla supercharging network from January 2026, adding 25 thousand charging points to the existing 15 thousand.

Through Free2move Charge, Stellantis is making electric mobility practical, accessible, and worry-free for all customers, contributing to the acceleration of LEV adoption and driving the shift toward a cleaner, sustainable future.

Circular Economy

Stellantis is implementing a comprehensive plan to foster its circular economy ambitions, with a 360-degree approach based on the 4R strategy – reman, repair, reuse, and recycle.

The main objectives of the Circular Economy business unit are to extend the lifespan of vehicles and parts, as well as returning material from production scrap and end-of-life vehicles to the manufacturing loop for new vehicles and parts.

These activities are identified under the SUSTAINera label and include:

A sustainable range of quality, affordable aftersales products and services with up to 80% raw materials savings and up to 50% non-emitted CO2 compared to equivalent new parts(1).

The 4R strategy behind this range consists of:

  • Reman (Remanufacturing) – Used, worn or defective parts are thoroughly dismantled, cleaned and remanufactured according to OEM specifications with the same performance and warranty as original parts
  • Repair – Parts are repaired and reinstalled in customer vehicles
  • Reuse – Multi-brand original spare parts, still in good condition, are recovered from end-of-life vehicles and reused ‘as-is’ on vehicles needing replacement parts
  • Recycle – Products made from recovered materials and industrial waste

Hubs to integrate circular economy activities at Stellantis facilities. This includes vehicle reconditioning and vehicle dismantling. The first Hub was opened at the Company’s Mirafiori complex in Italy. There are plans to open new Hubs in other Regions to support expansion of this sustainable business model at the global level.

Industrial recycling operations supported by recycling partners around the world. A process has been established to manage recycled materials and create closed loops to replace virgin materials in new vehicle and parts production, by recovering the Company’s internal production waste and materials from End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs).

Stellantis applies a “Design for Circular Economy” approach from the design phase, using materials and designing components/vehicles that are sustainable, longer lasting and easier to repair, remanufacture, disassemble, recover, and recycle at end-of-life.
