At Stellantis, we integrate sustainability into our supply chain operations, focusing on compliance with environmental, social, and ethical standards.
We are committed to fostering a shared ambition for carbon reduction, creating a sustainable impact across our ecosystem.
Integrating Sustainability Across Our Entire Supply Chain
We define ESG guidelines for our supplier base
Our Global Responsible Purchasing Guidelines emphasize ESG topics, including respect for human rights, business ethics, responsible practices, protection of the environment and decarbonization. These guidelines enhance our suppliers’ awareness of ESG topics and communicate key principles for ensuring sustainable practices, specifying those to be implemented in their own supply chains. Adherence to these guidelines is essential to become or remain part of the Stellantis supplier panel.
We strive for continuous improvement in our suppliers’ ESG performance
Stellantis evaluates its Tier 1 suppliers annually on environmental stewardship, workforce practices, ethics, and sustainable procurement. This assessment, carried out by EcoVadis – a globally recognized third party – is an integral criterion in the business relationship. The assessment identifies areas for improvement, supporting suppliers in meeting ESG expectations and mitigating risks. Yearly reassessments monitor sustainability performance and encourage continuous improvement, supported by training initiatives. To further support suppliers, Stellantis offers e-learning platforms featuring tools designed to rapidly identify and address ESG risks, enhancing both internal processes and performance.
We implement risk-based monitoring
In 2024, Stellantis updated its risk rating assessment logic that combines the risks associated with countries, with commodities, and with raw materials. The risk ratings are regularly evaluated and updated, considering revised indexes as well as stakeholder input. Supplier sites identified as high risk through this methodology are subject to on-site audits, with associated report and corrective action plan.
We have a specific focus on human rights
As a United Nations Global Compact signatory, we target adherence to key frameworks. We implement preventive measures inspired by the rules of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) to meet social and ethical standards, including the abolition of child and forced labor and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. We require our suppliers to align with these principles in accordance with the Stellantis Global Responsible Purchasing Guidelines.
In addition, considering the human rights risks in raw material extraction and procurement, we actively promote transparency across EV battery supply chain in order to mitigate such risks. We conduct on-site audits at selected locations, including Tier 1 suppliers and mines or refiners, to identify and address any issues with corrective action plans.
Finally, we recognize that protecting Indigenous land, territory, and resource rights is essential to preventing displacement and preserving community roles. Stellantis supports the principle that recognized Indigenous Peoples must be properly informed and consulted before consenting to land use that may affect their rights. Our Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) policy applies to Stellantis’ direct operations and promotes similar practices across our supply chain.

We secure sustainable raw materials for electrification
Stellantis advances vertical integration by directly sourcing critical raw materials to support our electrification goals and strengthen supply chain transparency and resilience. For those new direct raw material purchases, in addition to other actions disclosed, Stellantis conducts due diligence with third-party support, following OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) Guidelines, to assess mining and refining activities with regard to ESG associated risks. The results of this due diligence may include the proposal of corrective actions with the supplier. This strategy promotes responsible development of upstream industries and fosters long-term partnerships that reflect our shared commitment to sustainability.
Stellantis also has offtake arrangements for strategic materials, including agreements with Carester in France to supply rare earth raw materials through processing and recycling.
We target carbon reduction
We have integrated specific CO2 requirements into our business award criteria for high-emission commodities. To enhance suppliers’ carbon neutrality knowledge, we offer customized webinars on the carbon footprint of components and systems and the creation of a carbon reduction roadmap. Additionally, we recognize top performers in CO2 Management during our annual Supplier Awards. In 2024, Goodyear received recognition for its performance in rolling resistance and vehicle efficiency in the Carbon Footprint category, and LyondellBasell was acknowledged for its contributions to green materials development in the Raw Materials category.
We improve ecosystem practices
Joining initiatives such as the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) and the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) enables us to support responsible sourcing and ethical practices across the supply chain, from battery suppliers to mining operations, and to promote the adoption of these industry standards at smelters, refiners, and mining sites. This includes promoting comprehensive on-site audits and the implementation of corrective actions in accordance with established industry standards. We also contribute to industry-wide progress by revising the Automotive Guiding Principles with AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group) and Drive Sustainability, creating a unified voice for a responsible supply chain.
