Responsible Energy Management
Energy efficiency and transformation are the cornerstones of our strategy to decarbonize our own operations while optimizing costs and increasing resilience to energy cost volatility and climate disruption. We aim to reach 70% of decarbonized electricity used in our own operations by 2030 compared to 2021.
We are progressively improving our use of energy resources, and those efforts are bearing results:
- In 2025, we achieved reductions of 28% in energy consumption compared to 2021.
- The share of decarbonized electricity used in our operations has increased from 45% in 2021 to 59% in 2025.
Increasing and Diversifying Energy Transformation
Stellantis is deploying a range of advanced technologies to reduce fossil fuel reliance in its own operations, supported by a green energy supply strategy and toolkit.
Innovative Technology Toolkit
In Europe, Stellantis is expanding decarbonized energy across its manufacturing network, with photovoltaic projects completed or underway at 27 sites, representing more than 500 MW of installed capacity and two-thirds of the plants. The Company also plans to deploy Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across 20 sites to optimize energy use, support grid stability and increase self-consumption. In parallel, geothermal and biomass solutions are being rolled out at several plants to diversify the energy mix, strengthen resilience and further reduce CO2 emissions.
In the Asia-Pacific region, photovoltaic and wind energy power represent a significant share of our plants’ electricity mix. More than 70% of the region’s electricity requirements are sourced from these renewable energies. This has contributed to the region avoiding around 18,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year, a figure expected to improve to 20,000 tons per year through various initiatives including the use of technologies such as BESS.
In South America, Stellantis is moving toward energy self-sufficiency through a collaboration with a local solar energy provider, increasing the use of renewable electricity at the Córdoba Industrial Complex in Argentina. This initiative supports the Company’s commitment to decarbonization and energy transition in the region.
Optimizing Energy Efficiency
In North America, plants such as the Detroit Assembly Complex – Jefferson (DAC‑J) are driving energy efficiency through process optimization, smarter operations and close collaboration with external partners, delivering over 2 million kWh in energy savings in 2025.
In Rennes, France, our first industrial biomass heating boiler has cut the plant’s natural gas consumption by 30%, utilizing local natural resources – forestry residues and wood industry waste sourced within less than 100 km from the plant – and avoiding 6,500 tons of CO2 emissions annually.
Finally, paint shops account for about 65% of industrial CO2 emissions at a vehicle assembly plant and are also the primary source of Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions in manufacturing. Stellantis is transforming these operations through a combination of electrification, process optimization and advanced paint technologies, including the transition to more efficient wet-paint processes.
Pioneering Real Estate Management
Stellantis is transforming three of its facilities (Poissy in France in 2025, Mirafiori in Italy, and Rüsselsheim in Germany by 2027) into “grEEn” campuses based on a low-carbon concept and extensive greening. Features include large-scale installation of solar panels on roofs, as well as use of modern vegetation techniques and cutting-edge construction technologies to reduce the total carbon footprint.
